Headphones are essential to hear the immersive elements of the work.
During the 'lockdown' of 2020/21 I have been developing ideas for a new work in collaboration with percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie. The idea is inspired in part by sunken bell myths such as Cantre'r Gwaelod and Llys Helig, and the connection I see to our modern history. Specifically the story of the 'call to worship' bell that was saved from Nantgwyllt Church, which was drowned in order to create the Caban Coch reservoir. The bell forms an important element of the sound-world of the work. My intention is to create and realise a live immersive experience/performance.

“That was a wonderful sonic and visual experience! That drone footage of waves is indeed fantastic, and the overlay of them was very effective. I watched it through and then went back and listened (listened only, eyes closed) to the music / soundscape again to pick out more details. I don’t know if I imagined it, but I’m sure I picked out some vertical differences in sound stage at one point, not only horizontal. Is binaural processing that clever these days?”
